Portable power stations sit between a phone power bank and a permanently installed home battery. They contain a much larger rechargeable battery plus AC sockets, USB ports and an inverter, allowing them to run equipment that a normal power bank cannot.

Jackery states that it uses LiFePO4 cells, supports UPS switching of 20ms or less and can perform an emergency fast charge in about an hour when that mode is enabled. It weighs about 23.8lb (roughly 10.8kg), making it portable but substantial.
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus — higher output at around 1kWh
The DELTA 3 Plus has 1,024Wh capacity and 1,800W AC output, with four UK AC outlets, two USB-C ports rated up to 140W each, LiFePO4 chemistry and expansion support. EcoFlow lists an AC recharge time of about 56 minutes and a sub-10ms UPS function.
Do not choose by watt-hours alone
Watt-hours (Wh) tell you how much energy is stored. Watts (W) tell you how much power the unit can deliver at a given moment. You need enough of both.
A 1,000Wh battery with only a 500W inverter cannot run a 1,200W appliance. A 1,800W inverter attached to a tiny battery may run a high-power device, but only briefly. Good buying decisions start with the actual equipment you want to support.

Fridges, pumps, heating equipment, kettles and cooking devices demand much more power. Do not assume that a product being able to start an appliance means it will run it for a useful length of time.
LiFePO4 is worth looking for
Most newer preparedness-oriented power stations now use lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4/LFP) cells. Manufacturers commonly rate these for thousands of cycles before capacity falls significantly, making them attractive for equipment that may also be used routinely rather than stored untouched.
UPS functionality can be useful — but read the details
Some power stations can sit between the wall socket and equipment, switching to battery when mains power fails. The advertised switching time matters for sensitive electronics, but a portable power station is not automatically a replacement for a specialist UPS in every use case. If uninterrupted operation is critical, check the equipment manufacturer’s requirements.
