I Need to Leave Home Quickly
Minutes matter more than perfect packing. People and safety come before stuff.
If someone else controls the home, your phone or your accounts, avoid creating a detailed plan on a shared device. This page does not ask you to save names, addresses or personal notes.
Do this in order.
Do not try to solve everything at once. Start with immediate safety, then move forward one step at a time.
Decide where “safe” is
Choose the safest realistic destination you can reach now: a trusted person, staffed public place, police, emergency accommodation route or another suitable location.
Take people before property
Children, dependants and essential mobility / medical needs come before bags, clothes or replaceable possessions.
Take the true essentials
If they are safely accessible, take your phone, keys, regular medication, identification, payment method, charger and a warm layer.
Leave without making the situation worse
If confrontation would increase danger, do not announce or negotiate your exit.
Tell one trusted person
Let one safe person know where you are or where you are heading, unless sharing that information could expose your location to someone unsafe.
Sort the rest from safety
Transport, accommodation, insurer, employer, school, documents and belongings can be dealt with once the immediate risk has reduced.
Take only what matters now.
Do not.
- Do not turn an urgent exit into a full house move.
- Do not go back for replaceable property while danger is still present.
- Do not assume you need every document before asking police, housing or specialist services for help.
- Do not post your destination publicly if location privacy matters.
