Water preparedness, explained clearly.

Storage, filtration and treatment solve different problems. These articles explain the difference before recommending equipment.

Understand

Start with the water problem you are solving.

Water storage, filtration and purification are different problems. Stored drinking water gives you an immediate reserve when the supply stops. A filter can remove particular contaminants from a source it is designed for. Purification or treatment is a separate step and depends on the type of contamination.

For home preparedness, the first question is usually quantity: how much drinking water your household needs and where you can safely store it. Only after that should you decide whether containers, filters or treatment products add useful resilience.

No portable filter should be treated as permission to drink from an unknown or chemically contaminated source. The product specification and the nature of the water source both matter.

Start with three questions
01

How much drinking water does your household need for the period you are planning for?

02

Are you storing known drinking water or trying to treat another source?

03

Do you have a safe, practical place to store the amount you need?
